No matter how good an action may seem, acting "for the sake of something" is base and greedy. Whether for someone or for some cause, if it fails, a desire arises to blame the other party or the situation—anything at all—and when it proceeds smoothly, vanity sprouts, attributing it to one's own ability. Therefore, one should truly act only for oneself. However, when acting out of pure, active love, the phrase or thought of "for the sake of" never arises.

I believe that when starting something, the reason must be found within oneself. If not, there are many cases where one cannot follow through with what they are doing due to changes in external factors. When I take an action or make up my mind, the reason must clearly reside within myself. Love is no exception.
